Here are 5 practices to try on the Summer Solstice or anytime of the year!

  1. Try a walking mediation with bare feet

Remove your shoes and experience the sensations of the earth underneath your feet. Feel the grass in your toes and reconnect to Earth. Feel grounded in the sensations of your feet moving on the ground. Ground down into the present moment. Bring awareness to the muscles in the feet moving. Slow down and notice the process of walking.

  2. Mediate on the sound of birds chirping

Sit outside while the sun is rising and listen to the birds chirp as the sun warms you up.

  3. Try yoga in nature

One of my favorite things to do is practice yoga outside in the fresh air. The sense’s feel more alive in my outdoor practice’s. Feel the breeze on your skin, feel the warmth of the sun, hear the birds chirping, and see all the bright colors of summer around you. Breath in the sensations of summer.

  4. Connect with the water element

One place where I feel home, is by the water. I feel a connection with the ocean waves or the stillness of the lake. After yoga practice, jump in the water or dip your feet in the lake or ocean. Observer your surroundings and just be.

  5. Create earth mandalas

Collect flowers, twigs, rocks, bark and any other natural elements to create your own mandala. This is a fun way to honor the season and watch as the mandala changes over time.

Happy longest day of the year!
